Whitney movie was unfinished, and unnecessary. It was a movie I could have done without seeing. It was a waste of two hours. (Read More)
Whitney Houston was an icon, she had the voice of no other. I remember the first time hearing "I will always love you" I would try to sing it just like her. She has inspired so many artist and people. When I heard that Angela Basset was directing a movie about Whitney I said to myself, "This is the women who played Tina Turner, Yes!" I was thinking this should be interesting. So When I sat down to watch, I was saying this is going to be good. I was wrong. It almost made me wonder why the hell wont they let her rest in peace like Cissy Houston said. I always thought she just didn't want people to know what everyone was saying, that Whitney was a drug addict. In reality her life was bigger than her just doing drugs, and being married to Bobby Brown. She played in the Body Guard, The Preacher's Wife, Grammy winner, American Music Award winner. I can go on forever with her many accomplishments. So when I heard a Movie on Whitney, I thought 2-3 hours long with all of her life in the movie, not just drug abuse, and her marrying Bobby. To a child growing up who may have wanted to know who Whitney Houston was to be so talked about, and such an icon, they would have gotten anything from that movie. To not get the blessing of Whitney's mother before doing this movie, or even talking to Bobby Brown. I think the movie was a failure before it even started. I know the movie topped the LMN charts, but it was for the same reason I watch, because Angela Basset directed it. Congratulations on your first movie Angela. I love you as an actress. I think you should stick to fictional movies. If you are going to do a movie on someone like Whitney have a good writer, and a better budget. I must say that Ya Ya killed the part of whitney, and the costumes were on point, but the overall movie could have been better. It should have depicted her life from start til her death showing her many accomplishments, and the obstacles to get there. The movie ended, and I said WTF. This is just my opinion. What do you all think?
